Proofpoint Security Awareness Training (SAT) differentiates itself from KnowBe4 and other SAT vendors through its threat intelligence integration. Because Proofpoint's email security platform processes 2.8+ billion emails daily, its SAT platform can build phishing simulations based on real attack campaigns targeting the same vertical as the customer — if healthcare organizations are being targeted with a specific lure this week, Proofpoint SAT can simulate that exact lure type for healthcare customers.

The platform uses Very Attacked People (VAP) data — a metric Proofpoint calculates from actual email threat targeting — to prioritize which users receive the most intensive simulation and training. Rather than treating all users equally, Proofpoint SAT focuses resources on the individuals who are most frequently targeted by real threat actors.

Content is produced through Proofpoint's in-house studio and licensed partnerships, covering awareness, compliance, and role-based training. The modules tend toward shorter formats (3–7 minutes) based on research into attention and retention. Branching simulations that adapt based on user responses are available in the enterprise tier.

As with Proofpoint's email security products, SAT pricing is enterprise-only and quote-based. The platform is most compelling for existing Proofpoint email security customers who gain the native integration, shared VAP data, and single-vendor management — rather than as a standalone SAT purchase against KnowBe4.
